Social Intelligence

May 20, 2012

I need to write an essay about the importance of Social Intelligence? Can anyone give me some tips and pointers? This article relates to studying social intelligence in humans i. E the way we interact , to apply this information to develop artificial agents. Essentially — I’m not real sure how to answer this question and my answer may not be appropriate for what you are looking for and I apologize for that. But SOCIALLY, when a person speaks to you or you speak to a person, look them in the eyes when talking — you communicate better that way and the person knows you are sincere when speaking to them. This I did learn in a psychology class — I hope it helps or gives you an idea. . . Good luck.

Social Security Office Locations

May 19, 2012

I need to replace my daughters and I S. S. C but don’t want to go to the main office, what other locations are there? Also what can I use to identify her since she is only 3 she doesn’t have a passport or i. D . . I have her birth certificate, crib card, foot print when she was born, and her shot record. I think I found an answer. You should be able to google or use yellow pages to find SS offices in SA. I suggest that you call them and ask if what you have for your daughter is sufficient. My guess is that it will be. I’m not sure, but I think what your daughter needs is a passport. As for your own SS card, if you need to replace it, when you know your SS# you can probably order a replacement over the phone. A few years ago I had to get a replacement card but I’m sorry to say that I don’t remember exactly what I did. I’m pretty sure that I didn’t go to an office.

Social Work

May 18, 2012

I’m 16 and i’m leaving school this year. I have decided that what ever I do i’m going to do an apprenticeship. I’ve always wanted to be a social worker. I want to help find housing for people and help them with other financial needs. I was told to do an apprenticeship in health and social care. When went into the training centre I was told that i’ll have to work in a residential home; however I don’t want to work their for my placement. What shall I do?? Can you do an apprenticeship in heath and social care in the council???? Please help. Basically… To be a social worker you need a minimum of a BSW (Bachelor degree) and really you will probably want an MSW (masters degree). What makes a social work degree unique is the amount of required internship (similar to an apprenticeship). You can’t just do an apprenticeship to be a social worker – you will need to go to college. Now you can leave H. S. And get a GED and then go to a community college – but you will probably be better served by staying in H. S. Now you may be able to find a job as an aid (which is what it sounds like you are describing). However, you will not really be able to realize your goal of helping people find housing and financial aid. DA

Social Structure

May 17, 2012

Ive tried wikipedia but it is too vague and technical. If I understand correctly in my own words, a social institution is a set of social conventions based on some value, I dont understand what a social structure is at all but the given definitions seem to be similar to this. . So what exactly is a social structure, a social institution and the difference? Thanks. What I found out was – 1. The terms are sometimes used for the same social phenomena 2. When they are used differently, the three major differences are 2. 1 ‘social structure’ is the more abstract term /the broader term/more generative (or active) term 3. Example. -when we use the term ‘the modern family as a social institution’: we focus on the form of the family/the functions it provides/how it connects to other aspects of society/how it has developed into this form /how it is undergoing change today -when we use the term ‘the family as a social structure (or’ social system&#039 we see how ‘the family system’ generates a) forms of gender inequality b) forms of class privilege c) levels of social mobility d) and how ,within the broader total social structure, these structural connections and interreactions between the family and the political economic structures then generate further changes in both the structures and cultural values of the society.

Social Classes

May 16, 2012

I am having a problem answering various questions. Any help will be useful. –How did the Industrial revolution affect social classes, the standard of living, and patterns of work? What measures were taken to improve the conditions of workers? -what challenges did the Industrial Revolution present and how did people try to overcome these challenges? -What did the emergence of urban industrial society mean for the rich and poor and those in between? -What were any of the global consequences of European industrialization between 1815 and 1914. Well, I have your answer right here. I believe you can best resolve your problem by getting your teacher to recommend suitable text books. You should then read them. This is much better than cheating.

Social Anxiety

May 15, 2012

One of the major symptoms associated with social anxiety is stress. Stress works two ways – the social anxiety can cause it, and the stress can intensify the social anxiety. Stress can be a big problem, because it leads to other health related problems, such as high blood pressure or heart attack.

Stress can also cause headaches, ulcers, insomnia, excessive fatigue, and muscle pain. When a person who suffers from social anxiety is contemplating a social interaction or situation, they experience stress. When they are actual in a social interaction or situation, the stress level increases to extreme levels, and triggers a variety of other symptoms.

Stress plays such a big role in social anxiety that, in many cases, once a person learns how to control their stress levels, they literally overcome their social anxiety as well. There are many methods that can be used to control stress levels. Exercise is one of the best ways to reduce or eliminate stress, because believe it or not, stress can create energy. This is the fight or flight response that we were all born with. This fight or flight response was used by our ancestors for their survival. We don’t typically use this fight or flight response for our survival today, but it is still there, and it does create energy that needs to be used. Exercise is the way to use it.

You can also employ other methods for dealing with long-term stress and it’s side effects. These methods include: Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), Autogenic Relaxation, and Imagery Relaxation. These methods can be used along with exercise to greatly reduce your stress levels.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation is a technique in which you tense, then relax, groups of muscles. The ultimate goal of PMR is to be able to relax your entire body all at once. When you can relax all of your muscles, stress disappears from your muscles, and it is either reduced or eliminated.

Autogenic relaxation is often used for the relief of chronic pain. Since stress can cause chronic pain, autogenic relaxation is used to treat stress as well. Autogenic relaxation combines deep breathing exercises with imagery and positive verbal statements to control and master a problem that is causing stress.

Imagery relaxation also involves deep breathing, but instead of dealing directly with what is causing the stress, you use your mind to take you away from the stressful situation – to a happier, more relaxed place. This can be done with the use of tapes, or on your own.

Whether social anxiety is causing your stress or something else is causing your stress, it is important that you deal with the stress as soon as possible, before it leads to other more serious health problems and takes over your life. Even if you are not able to deal with other issues just yet – such as your social anxiety – your stress levels can still be greatly reduced.

Social Construction

May 14, 2012

I believe that race is only a social construction. What do you think and why. From what I can tell… Well, well. Verrrry Interesting. A thinker in the midst. Who’da thunk it? The first two answers are right around it. The distinctions humans make in identifying “race” [in human beings] are somewhat nonsensical. There are serious questions in my mind as to whose logic was applied in making the distinctions and selecting the words. We see differences in certain physical characteristics in Asians, Caucasians, Africans, Aborigines, Indians, etc. As being different races. But consider other animals. Take dogs or cats or horses, for example. Do you see a Shar Pei turn her wrinkled nose away from a furry Shepard? Of course not. The distinction of color or other characteristic differences in most mammals, anyway, doesn’t seem to be exclusionary as it sometimes seems to be with we, the so-called ‘higher’ animals. Conversely, science is used to explain differences which are, as pointed out above, genetic. Large groups of people comprising large gene pools with different dominant characteristics in each. People from different continents. People (and groups) whose genes have only started mixing in recent times. Worldwide, we are becoming a homogenized “race. ” A “race” of all human beings; the Human Race. Bottom line? I guess we’re left with any scientific observations of characteristic differences between different groups of people AND a social construct based on those observable differences (we might also argue that the distinctions are, in fact, semantic and nothing more, but I’m not going there. ). Me? I don’t think much of it at all. It’s divisive at best, immoral at worst.

Social Security System

May 13, 2012

Changing of Names

The Social Security has set some rules and regulations to be followed by members who wish to have their names changed. There are various circumstances where name changing is allowed and these are as follows: if a member marries, if the member divorced and if there are certain corrections to be made on the name of a member.

If you are a Social Security member and wishes to change your name let’s say in you social security card, the first thing you ought to do is to tell both the agency as well as your employer. The importance of telling your employer is to make certain that your earnings will be properly reported and recorded. However, it is only your name that will be changed and will not in any way affect your social security number. The changing of a member’s name does not require for any payment, it is entirely for free.

In order for a member to get his or her new corrected social security card he or she will be required to bring along with her the identification showing the old name and the new name. For the new name a member may bring his or her marriage certificate or divorce decree. And for those members who were born outside of US you will be made to present proofs of your US citizenship.

Divorced?

For divorced social security members especially those that have been married for at least ten years, may be able to collect retirement benefits on their former spouse’s Social Security record provided they are at least sixty-two years of age and if ever their former spouse is entitled or already receiving benefits. However, if after the divorce a member marries he or she may not collect on his or her former spouse’s benefits unless his or her marriage ends either by death, divorce or annulment.

There are still other circumstances aside from the above mentioned wherein a divorce spouse may be able to claim benefits. Take for example if ever the divorced spouse dies and then the other spouse have not yet married plus the surviving spouse is of age 60 then he or she will be receiving benefits. However, if he or she remarries before reaching the age of 60 he or she will no longer be able to receive any benefits from his or her ex-spouse. But if after the age of 60 the ex-spouse remarries only then will he or she be entitled to receive social security survivor benefits and even retirement benefits out from his or her deceased ex-spouse.

Social Entrepreneur

May 12, 2012

Hi. I would like to join a course in “buisness and social enterprise”. At ngee ann poly. firstly, I need to know what is it? Secondly, whats the diff. Between social entrepreneur and social worker? What’s the starting salary like for a social entrepreneur? Finally, I need your sincere thoughts and opinions. Do you think doing this job is stupid and not worth it. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. A social worker doesn’t work for the pay, as far as I know, as for whether the job is stupid or not, I can’t make a judgment since this is your choice and it would be up to you to decide whether or not it is ‘stupid’. . don’t let others’ opinions and thoughts stop you from pursuing what you truly want, if you’re asking this question, it’s obvious that you’re still unsure of what you want. . reconsider if you must cause you’ll be stuck with it for the next three years if you’re accepted. . good luck. .

Social Networks

May 11, 2012

Are social networks for people who are board, lazy and have nothing to do with there time like 4 example time 4 making money and new business deals and the like. Do you know what I found? I’m not sure if I’d say that. Certainly Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook would disagree. The truth is, a social network can be any network of people who get together for a typical purpose, though this can be for completely different things. Sites like Facebook, MySpace and Bebo are more for social networking, however quite a few people have made money and a steady business out of trading in site applications and advertising. There are other sites, however, that are social networking but for different reasons. The most prominent example I can think of is LinkedIn, which allows people to connect to others for business and employment purposes. It’s quite a successful website.
